DFM review before injection mold tooling.
Review plastic part risk before steel is cut: wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, gate location, ejection, warpage, tolerance and surface finish.
Send the minimum context needed for a useful DFM reply.
This form is for buyers who need to know whether the part is ready for mold quotation or still has geometry, material or sample risk.
DFM checks
Output
The first review should create risk notes, design-change suggestions, tooling assumptions and quote questions. The goal is not to redesign every feature for free; it is to identify whether the part is ready for tooling discussion.
When to request DFM first
Request DFM before a mold quote when the part has visible surfaces, tight snap fits, thin walls, deep ribs, screw bosses, undercuts, insert zones or a material that may shrink or warp. A short DFM screen can show whether price comparison is meaningful or whether the design needs a targeted change before suppliers estimate tooling.
