Machine types

How tonnage is estimated

Clamp tonnage is estimated from projected part area, cavity count and material injection pressure, then rounded up to the machine sizes a shop actually runs. Undersized tonnage risks flash and short shots; oversized tonnage adds cost and can hurt cycle time and process control on small parts.
